Quality Assurance
The ISTD achieved Government recognition in November 2000 through the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA).
All awarding bodies approved by QCA are recognised as using valid, reliable and consistent qualifications, which are monitored and approved. Those whose qualifications are not approved will not stand the test of time.
By gaining this acknowledgement, the ISTD student will be able to achieve standard qualifications that are part of the National Framework of awards recognizable by all educational institutions. In addition, this will ultimately mean that schools may be eligible for funding from the Government for some of the ISTD's higher qualifications.
In order to comply with QCA requirements, new procedures have been introduced which will enhance the integrity of the awarding process.
Much of this work is the responsibility of the Customer Services and Quality Assurance Department.
The department monitors the work of teachers and examiners so the ISTD can provide the best possible level of service to its customers. The department is on hand to provide advice or assistance to those who require it.
As part of this approval procedure, systems are now in place to monitor and report on the whole examination and certificate process to ensure that they are working effectively. The customer service provisions that the company instigate will also be observed to ensure candidates are receiving an acceptable level of service.
