Email Warning
A number of teachers have been contacted
via email with an enquiry to teach two children from overseas. It
is normally for an intensive course e.g. 2 lessons a day, 5 days
a week for a month. When prices are agreed a cheque is sent in advance
which exceeds the amount quoted.
An email explains that the extra money is for accommodation and
can it be forwarded to another person as soon as the cheque clears.
There will still be some money left over and this is to cover bank
charges etc and any out of pocket expenses, shoes etc the children
might need.
The danger is that the cheque could appear to clear and be credited
to your account but eventually the bank can inform you that it was
fraudulent and the funds are not available. You will
then be liable to the bank for any
amounts you spent or sent on to others. At least 4 teachers have
had approaches of this type made to them. The children of course
never appear. Delete these emails!
