Ballroom Faculty History

The
Ballroom Branch (now Faculty) Committee was formed in
1924
with 6 committee members, who were Josephine Bradley (Chairman),
George Fontana, Lisle Humphryes, Victor Silvester, Muriel
Simmonds and Eve Tynegate-Smith. |
In
1925 the Technique and Syllabus was published for the Waltz,
Foxtrot, Quickstep and Tango and in 1947 the Ballroom Branch
Committee began to standardise the technique of Ballroom Dancing.
The book was completed and published in 1948 and called ‘The
Revised Technique’.
In
1932 Alex Moore became a member of the Ballroom Branch Committee
and became Chairman in 1947, holding the position until 1976.
He was succeeded by Bill Irvine MBE who was Chairman until
1992 when we welcomed our current Chairman, Robert Grover.
