A
Birthday Celebration
The
Studio in Glasgow (run by Maureen Christie) is 21 years
young this year and a special weekend of celebrations
took place on 25th and 26th November 2006.
Mr Richard Glasstone had kindly accepted an invitation
to attend and arrived on Saturday in time for the 21st
birthday dinner held, appropriately, at a local Italian
restaurant – where a lovely meal was enjoyed by
all.
Although he didn't quite sing for his supper Mr Glasstone
gave generously of his time the next day. In the morning
he taught a class for Intermediate and Advanced 1 level
students then, after a buffet lunch, gave a lecture
on the development of ballet from the late 19th Century
to the present day with reference to Enrico Cecchetti.
The personal insight, depth of knowledge and enthusiasm
which Mr Glasstone brought to the whole subject made
it a fascinating and interesting talk for all who were
there.
After a short break this was followed by a class for
Advanced 2 and Diploma level students. Both this and
the morning class were very well attended and it was
a delight to see how much all who took part not only
enjoyed but also gained from the experience.
Our thanks are extended to Mr Glasstone for making the
trip north to be with us and mark the birthday celebrations
in this manner and also to Mrs Christie for all her
work in preparing for and organising the event and providing
a splendid lunch on Sunday.
