Choreographic
Competition 2007
The
annual Cecchetti Choreographic Competition was held
at Cecil Sharp House, London on Sunday 2nd December
The
junior section was very well attended. The children
entertained us with a variety of interesting creations,
which they performed with pride and obvious enjoyment.
The
day was run efficiently by the group and many thanks
to Linda Isaacs and Wendy Mitchell and the Cecchetti
Group for organising a fun and child-friendly competition.

The
Middle and Senior sections of our annual Choreographic
Competition were held during the afternoon of 2nd December
at Cecil Sharp House London. The Cecchetti Group were
delighted with the success of the day and it was encouraging
to see the event being so well supported.
Josephine
Holling adjudicated the choreography content of each
entry. She trained at the Royal Ballet School and graduated
into the Royal Ballet Company. She is currently teaching
at Millennium and is also a Ballet Examiner. Josephine
said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed the day. It was
a difficult task to choose winners and I was especially
impressed with the work of the senior girls. It is so
wonderful to see them entering as I know at that age
they have so many school commitments.”
We
were delighted to have Andrew West to adjudicate the
use of music. For many years Andrew has been senior
pianist at the Royal Ballet School. He is also a regular
pianist at various Cecchetti events.
Each
child was presented with a Participation Certificate
as we feel they should all be commended for their efforts.
In each section a number of Commendation Certificates
were presented along with Medals for the Runner Up and
Winner of each section. All the children contributed
to an enjoyable and entertaining day.
The
Cecchetti Group would like to express their thanks and
appreciation to the teachers and students who participated
this year, but we would like to encourage more children
to enter. Children may be of any dance standard and
may enter as long as they are in the correct age group
and studying with a Cecchetti teacher. So please do
encourage your pupils to enter in December 2008.
