Wales and
the West Area Awards
On
Sunday 28th January 2007, 85 eager dancers arrived at
the Congress Theatre in Cwmbran, all keen to demonstrate
the set work and dances. Our adjudicator for the day
was Pamela Miller, and the pianist was Penny Hughes,
as ever delighting us with her usual beautiful accompaniment.

Mrs
Miller commented that the standard was high, and that
the children really showed their enjoyment on the stage.
She reminded the dancers of the importance of musicality
at all times, and that beautiful arm lines support and
enhance allegro presentation. Mrs Miller also encouraged
the dancers to strengthen their footwork and to pay
more attention to all demi-pliés.
This year saw the introduction of the Pamela Miller
Musicality Award for Seniors, which takes the form of
a beautiful shield, to be handed over each year between
winners. A well organised team of helpers ensured that
the event ran smoothly, and a lovely day was had by
all.
