Choreographic
Workshop
On
Saturday 15th December the Cecchetti choreographic workshop took place.
When
I arrived there was a buzz of excitement and enthusiasm. All the children
were organised into groups decided by their ages and given their own
parts in the ballet Cinderella.

From
that moment on there was an atmosphere of exhilaration, creativity,
and a lot of hard work to finish dances and to create an entire ballet
in one afternoon. I'm sure I speak on behalf of all of the teachers
who helped in saying that the children were very motivated and creative
in choreographing their dances, and coped incredibly well with the difficult
music by Prokofiev.
There
was a constant surge of energy with children having costume fittings,
rehearsing on stage and the dress rehearsal with the full cast until
finally we were ready for the performance.

All
the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves having the opportunity to
dance on stage with live music and in costume. Two wonderful ugly sisters
enhanced the performance danced by Emily Cooke and Juan Sanchez, as
well as Stephen Ayres dancing Cinderella's father and Fiona-Jane Lambe
who narrated the ballet.
The
day was a great success enjoyed both children and parents. Many thanks
to all who helped and donated costumes, and special thanks to Cara Drower
for organising the whole event, also Juliet Locks and Susan Handy for
directing the performance, and to our three pianists Jill Barnes, Tim
Watts and Chris Swithenbanks. We all look forward to next year's ballet.
