Faculty Chairman - Kay Ball
After
training at London College of Dance and Drama and gaining her Diploma
in 1980, Kay Ball began her teaching career at the Drusilla Duffill
School of Theatre Dance in Burgess Hill, West Sussex. Here she taught
Ballet, Tap, Modern, National and Classical Greek, Grades to Associate.
Six years
later Kay took over Redhurst School of Dancing in East Grinstead, which
is where she originally trained as a child with Sheila Ticehurst. Since
then the school has grown as she acquired two other local schools from
retiring teachers. Kay also teaches at two private schools, Ardingly
College, Haywards Heath and Brambletye School, East Grinstead, teaching
Modern, Classical Greek and Dance under the National Curriculum.
In 1988
she joined the Classical Greek Dance Faculty Committee. She was voted
Vice Chairman in 1996 and is a member of the Theatre Faculties Board.
Kay started
examining in 1990 and has organised the Classical Greek Dance Summer
School for the last nine years, and until this year has organised the
Classical Greek Faculty's Festival since 1991.
Kay was
the recipient of the Daphne Hawksworth Cup for outstanding service to
the Classical Greek Dance Faculty last year, and has now taken over
as Chairman, acknowledging the previous two Chairmen, Susan Mitchell-Smith
and Sonia Bond, will be hard acts to follow.
