Syllabus
Clarification
• Primary Class
Test
There is now an Alternative Step Sequence,
as shown on the new General Graded Examinations DVD.
The teacher choose which one will be shown:
Original: 4 Dotted skips, Swift Run,
Poise
Alternative: 8 Walks on Toes,
Swift Run, Poise
The Body Sequence remains compulsory.
Teachers are reminded that they should set the exam,
ensuring that all elements of the syllabus outline are
incorporated. The examiner may ask to see any individual
steps.
The dance should be a solo dance performed altogether.
• Intermediate Foundation
Skip Progressions: These can now be
requested as integrated progressions
Dance: A solo but danced altogether.
Each candidate dances the same choreography at the same
time with group patterns and direction.
Set Rhythm: This can be performed as
a group OR solo interpretation. In any case the rhythm
should be shown at least twice through, and the candidates
should be prepared to clap the rhythm individually first.
• Advanced 2
Candidates should choreograph their
own dance. As the construction and creativity used is
taken into consideration when marking this section of
the exam, candidates will no longer be asked to prepare
a creative sequence.
Rhythm Studies
The examiner will decide the time signature.
The candidate is then required to choreograph a short
sequence and then clap the rhythm within the given time
signature. As a general guide, sequences should be of
the following lengths:
16 bars of 2/4 or 3/4, 8 bars of 6/8 or 4/4, 4 bars
of 5/4, 7/4 or 9/8.
• Medal Tests
Candidates working at Intermediate
Level or above and who are aged 13 years and over may
now enter for Gold or Gold Star without having taken
Bronze and Silver previously. |
