Barbara
Geoghegan
A tribute
to Barbara Geoghegan from the Classical Greek Dance Faculty of the ISTD.
All her
life Barbara Geoghegan supported the Classical Greek Dance Faculty and
was a much loved and greatly respected member of it. Her kindness, help
and generosity could not be overestimated. She was called upon to adjudicate
many festivals and always seemed so pleased to do so. Barbara's sound
judgement was always respected by teachers, parents and competitors
alike.
Barbara
valued her training at the Ruby Ginner School. She felt the Classical
Greek training of musicality, freedom of movement and expression was
invaluable to all children, whether they were dancing for recreational
purposes or preparing for the professional stage.
The Classical
Greek Dance Faculty will always remember Barbara for the support she
gave to all our work and events throughout her life and she will be
greatly missed.

A personal
tribute to Barbara Geoghegan, a former Principal of the Buckhurst Hill
& Woodford School of Dancing.
Our memories
of Barbara Geoghegan go back to our childhood when she taught us Cecchetti
Ballet. She followed our lives with interest, giving us gifts as children
when we were ill and couldn't attend dancing events, writing to us when
we were away at school, giving us private tuition before examinations
and generally being our Fairy Godmother! Her kindness extended to our
families, Emma-Jane and Lucy particularly benefitting from Barbara's
wisdom and knowledge of the dancing world.
Barbara's
love of Classical Greek combined with Cecchetti Ballet was passed on
to us in her years of teaching at the Buckhurst Hill & Woodford School
of Dancing and this has had a strong influence on our lives. After retiring
from the school she adjudicated our Choreographic Competition and attended
our summer performances annually.
Barbara,
as part of our family, a great friend, teacher and adviser, we will
miss you, but thank you for being you.
