Miss
Anne Lingard
Anne
Lingard has been full time teaching in mid-Kent for
over 50 years and is followed by her younger daughter,
Margaret Preedy.
Always
having been a keen dance technician, Miss Lingard was
appointed examiner in Ballroom and Latin in 1971 and
in Sequence in 1977 and was then at the forefront of
the Disco explosion in 1978, being deeply involved with
the development and the writing of the technique of
this style, Co-Chairing the Disco/Freestyle/Rock 'n'
Roll Faculty from its inception until the Committee
became a formal elected Committee.
She
has also Chaired the Ballroom Teachers' Committee since
1980 and has lectured extensively in all styles.
Miss
Lingard was elected to the Modern Ballroom Faculty in
1982 and was appointed as Secretary/Organiser for the
Dance Sport Faculties at about that time. She is still
covering this role for the Ballroom and Latin Faculties
and is now the Co-Chairman of the new Alternative Rhythms
Faculty, which is currently going through examination
syllabus development.
Miss Lingard has been involved for many years in promoting
teaching competitive dancing, especially in the teaching
of competitive children and has a strong belief in the
advatages when running a dancing school of the teaching
of Formation Dancing, regularly having been to adjuducate
'World's' and 'European' Championships in this style.
This interest in Formation has been followed by her
daughter, Margaret.
For almost 20 years Miss Lingard was responsible for
the organisation and the compering of the high profile
Ballroom/Latin American Medallist Competitions in the
south of England, at Hammersmith Palais, Watford Colloseum
and Hemel Hempstead Pavilion.
Latterly,
Miss Lingard was appointed Senior International Co-ordinator
for the Dance Sport Faculties - which she finds fascinating,
interesting work - and has travelled extensively to
many parts of the world teaching, examining and adjudicating.
She was the first Western Ballroom teacher to be invited
to teach in Beijing at the end of Cultural Revolution
in China.
