On Saturday 24th September more than 900 performers, aged 6
to 88 from all over the UK, gathered at the Royal Albert Hall
in London to perform for the CCPR’s National Celebration
of Movement and Dance.
The Club Dance Faculty in the form of Richard Marcel and
his dancers were proud to represent the ISTD and take part in
this colourful and energetic festival designed to bridge the
gap between sports and the arts. Many styles of dance were represented
to include Jazz, Ballet, Folk, Ballroom and Caribbean fusion.
This was combined with displays of Yoga, Gymnastics and Chinese
martial arts.
The ISTD was requested to present a lively piece for the end
of the show so a medley consisting of Swing, Hip Hop, Tap, Tango
and Salsa was put together using 30 dancers to include students
from the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts and Elite Stage
& Dance School. Although some of the dancers had not met
prior to the day of the performance, the whole thing came together
very successfully leaving the ISTD with a performance to be
proud of in front of a full house at the Royal Albert Hall.
