The
DFR Faculty are delighted to announce that Chairman,
Yvonne Taylor-Hill, has won a Carl Alan Award for “Outstanding
Services to Freestyle Dance”
Yvonne says: “Actually being in the last three
nominations and being recognised for all your hard work
makes it all worthwhile. Winning was the ‘icing
on the cake’ I’m very chuffed. Sincere thanks
go to the people who nominated me and my very hard working
team of colleagues on the Committee especially Paul
Streatfield (Vice Chairman). Also to my head teacher,
Mandy Pearce. Without her holding the fort at home,
I would definitely not be able to be involved with so
many meetings and dance events both at home and abroad.”
Yvonne started dancing at the age of four, firstly in
Ballet and then Ballroom and Latin-American. She has
been teaching and running her own school in Amersham
since 1971, where she trains Beginners, Medallists and
Professionals of all grades in Ballet, Ballroom, Latin-American,
Alternative Rhythms, Disco/Freestyle and Rock ‘n’
Roll.
Personal
Achievements
Yvonne has been a member of, and has served on, the
ISTD’s Disco/Freestyle/Rock ‘n’ Roll
Faculty Committee since its inception in 1986.
She is currently in her fourth term as Chairman of the
DFR Faculty, a privileged position, which she has proudly
headed for 12 years.
She
is also an ISTD Area Medallist Competition Organiser,
a member of ISTD Council and the Disco/Freestyle representative
on the British Dance Council for the ISTD.
Yvonne was appointed an Examiner in 1988 and has promoted
Freestyle dance and Rock ‘n’ Roll through
examining, adjudicating, and teaching around the world.
She has also lectured many times for the ISTD as well
as other teaching organisations.
Still fully committed to teaching and coaching, she
has been actively involved in creating all the new ISTD
Grade work and syllabus including the training and coaching
of examiners and teachers. She is also a fully qualified
Championship Adjudicator, training competitors for the
Open Competition Circuit in Disco/Freestyle.
In 1996, she was a Carl Alan Award winner for the “Professional
who had done the most for Freestyle Dance” and
in 1999 she was the very proud recipient of the ISTD
Dancesport Award.
Her future aspirations are: “To continue to share
and promote my passion and love of dance to as many
people as possible, and strive to encourage a bright
and secure future for our young dancers, performers
and teachers worldwide, with examinations of the highest
standard and quality.” |
