Janet Cram Awards 2012 – Southern Heats

Event details:

• Juniors: 8 yrs and under 12 yrs on 1/9/11. Must have passed ISTD Grade 3 or 4 Modern and no higher
• Seniors: 11 yrs and under 15 yrs on 1/9/11. Must have passed ISTD Grade 4, 5 or 6 and no higher
• Premier: 13 yrs and under 17 yrs on 1/9/11. Must have passed ISTD Grade 6, Inter Foundation or Intermediate and no higher

Schools will be allowed to enter six pupils (this is to include branches’ and assistants’ pupils)

Class Content for the Regional Heats

Junior Class: will dance the Grade 3 set warm-up, a free floor sequence and Combination Steps A & B (prepared on both sides with split run) from Grade 3. The Set Amalgamations are: girls – Grade 3 Lyrical, boys – The Search

Senior Class: will dance the Grade 5 set warm-up, a free floor sequence and a free travelling step. The Set Amalgamations are: girls – Grade 5 Jazz, boys – The Tip Off

Premier Class: will dance a free warm-up, the set floor sequence from Intermediate Foundation (or the boys’ equivalent), and a free travelling step. The Set Amalgamations are: girls – Intermediate Jazz, boys – Intermediate Boys’ Jazz

The ISTD Modern Theatre Faculty present two special events in one day!

The Finals of the Janet Cram Awards and the Creation Choreographic Competition (in memory of Miss Doreen Bird), Sunday 17th June 2012

At the Shaw Theatre, Novotel London St Pancras, 100 – 110 Euston Road NW1 2AJ

• Junior Janet Cram Finals will be followed by Creation Junior Section
• Senior Janet Cram Finals will be followed by Creation Senior Section
• Premier Janet Cram Finals will be followed by Creation Premier Section

Sections (age as at 1/6/2012. Choreographer’s age dictates section entered)

• Junior: 10–12 years
• Senior: 13–15 years
• Premier: 16–17 years

Junior awards include the Mary Archbutt Trophy for Artistry. Senior and Premier awards include scholarships to Bird College International Summer School

• A minimum of three dancers must perform in each piece
• One or more children may choreograph a number in the Junior section
• Entries in the Senior and Premier section must have only one named choreographer
• Choreographers may choose to perform in their own piece and/or choreograph for any age range. The choreography may be of any style within the Modern genre

Time limits:

• Trios and Quartets – 3 minutes; Groups (5+ dancers) – 4 minutes
• Entry fees: Trio £15.00; Quartet £20.00; Group £25.00
