A fantastic opportunity for South Asian dance teachers to share information and clear apprehensions around presenting students for ISTD examinations.
Following the recent successful forum in Bradford at the Kala Sangam premises, we are doing our next one in London, at ISTD2 Dance Studios.
We are once again privileged to have the support and partnership of the CAT, The Centre for Advanced Training for South Asian and Contemporary Dance.
This is a fantastic opportunity for South Asian dance teachers to share information and understand the ISTD examinations system. We are planning this time to have a lecturer (courtesy of the CAT) who will cover certain aspects of the 'Health and Body Conditioning" or "Anga Suddhi" parts of our syllabi. We will also have mock examination presentations of both the lower grades as well as vocational levels.
11.30am Registration and tea / coffee
12.00pm Chair’s welcome and an introduction to the ISTD and its South Asian Dance Faculty
Brief notes on the ISTD’s Kathak and Bharatanatyam syllabi and their rationale
Talk on the value of ISTD qualifications in relation to mainstream education as well as the new proposed conversion route to a degree
12.30pm Demonstration and discussion on compilation of exam material presentation (Primary and Grades 1-6)
1.45pm CAT presentation
2.00pm Demonstration and discussion on compilation of exam material presentation (Vocational)
3.00pm Body Conditioning / Anga Suddhi presentation in relation to ISTD’s Kathak and Bharatanatyam syllabi

As last time, a travel bursary is being offered by the CAT for up to ten attendees. There will be a short presentation about the CAT as part of the day's programme. The presentation will be about how the CAT works in collaboration with local dance teachers who are called ‘Home Tutors’ and will also focus on the CAT Talent Identification and auditions for the 2012 term.
Travel bursaries of up to £50 each is available from the CAT to teachers who want to attend the ISTD Teachers’ Forum. Only ten bursaries are available and will be offered on a first come first served basis. Please note, the CAT is unable to offer travel bursaries to those teachers who were given bursaries in 2010 or in Feb 2012 for attending the ISTD Teachers’ Forums on those two occasions.
If you are interested in applying for a CAT travel bursary, please contact: Anita Srivastava, CAT (Outreach) Project Manager, firstname.lastname@example.org Bursary application closing date is 4th May 2012.
