Longways Dances from the Eighteenth Century

A course held on the 29th April 2001 at the Royal Academy of Dance, London

Jane Gibson, choreographer for the BBC film 'Pride & Prejudice', in conversation with Nicola Gaines.

Fiona Sheehan and Jane Rivers (member of the Advisory panel and a leading Dalcroze Teacher) in a figure from Aurettis Dutch Skipper, published in 1756.

Ann Franklin with Julia Bennett in a figure from 'Hole in the Wall', first published by Playford in 1695. Julia Bennett travelled all the way from America to attend this particular course.

Courses next academic year

30th September 2001 Follow the Thread: A day exploring weaving patterns in squares and longways sets, drawing on dances from Playford's first edition of the Dancing Master, longways dances of the 18th century and 19th century Quadrilles.
10th February 2002 Dalcroze Euryhthmics for Early Dance: A day exploring ways of enriching a sense of rhythm and phrasing in performance of early dance.
14th April 2002 A day celebrating the work of the late Belinda Quirey MBE who would have been 90 on this day.
