Joyce Percy Award
In
memory of Joyce Percy, the founder of the Imperial Ballet
Awards, and past Chairman of the Imperial Classical Ballet
Committee along with Chairman of the ISTD Council and Vice-President
of the Society - the Imperial Classical Ballet Committee are
introducing a new competition at the Imperial Classical Ballet
2005 Awards.
The
Awards are held on the 5th and 6th March 2005 at Queen Mary
and Westfield College, London.
The
dancers eligible for this will be the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize
winners from Grade 5, Grade 6 and Intermediate competitions.
These nine dancers will be invited to take part in a special
class, with no solo to be presented. The dancer who the adjudicators
feel shows the most potential, artistry and quality of movement
will receive a cup kindly donated by Betty Laine OBE, who
herself was trained by Joyce Percy, Marjorie Davies and Daphne
Peterson at the Bush Davies School, Romford.
In
addition, the winner will also win a prize of three tickets
to watch a performance at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.
The committee wishes the winner to present a solo in the Showcase
which is part of the annual ISTD Congress to be held on March
13th at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London in 2005>>
