Elizabeth Romain – a
Tribute
Elizabeth Romain died on Saturday 27th January
2007. Sadly the world has lost a great lady.
The Latin American Faculty Committee, to which Liz
gave a lifetime’s service and was Chairman of
at the time of her resignation due to ill health, send
condolences to her family and countless friends all
over the world.
Liz fought strong and hard against the illness that
was especially debilitating over the last two years.
She took great pleasure in continuing to write her
variations for Dance Today and whenever well enough,
gave lessons, for which there never ceased to be demand.
Recently, it became clear that the end was near. Our
beautiful Elizabeth was ready to go. She only asked
that her friends pray for her, which we did.
Members of the Latin American Faculty Committee and
indeed the entire membership of the Dance Sport Faculty
Board, feel respect, gratitude and admiration for Liz,
who must surely have been one of the greatest ambassadors
of dance. We will forever be in her debt for the work
given to the Society and
it’s membership the world over. The immense technical
contribution, unsurpassed teaching skills and the quality
and warmth with which she carried out her role as ISTD
examiner will not be forgotten.
Elizabeth Romain possessed a generous spirit, bright
wit and razor sharp intellect, none of which had dimmed
at all with her advancing years. She was a gentle person,
always considerate and unassuming. Liz was completely
unaware of the radiance of her aura. She was also very
brave.
It is sad the world has lost this great lady but it
was a gift that she was here and touched so many lives.
There is a joy in our hearts for having known her.
Liz, we hold you most dear. Be now at peace.
