ISTD Golden Jubilee Award

The
ISTD Dance Examinations Board is proud to present a unique examination
to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee in dance. |
The
examination for the Award is designed to embrace all forms of dance
within the Imperial Dance and Dance Sport Faculties. It is hoped that
all teachers will use this Award as part of their Golden Jubilee celebrations.
It
is hoped that this article will answer your questions relating to the

When
does the examination start?
It is envisaged that teachers will start organising and booking their
sessions from Spring Congress 2002. The Award will be available until
Spring Congress 2003.
Age
Group
This examination is available to all age groups within the normal medal
structure.
Student
teacher & professional examinations
In response to requests, professional sections are offered: One to cover
student structures and another to cover the qualified professional.
What
does a candidate receive?
The candidate receives a specially designed Award, certificate and report
form. (Candidates may take more than one examination but the Award and
certificate will be identical.)
Dress
Appropriate dress and footwear for the examination being taken should
be worn.
Examination
Cost
The two-dance examination will cost £5.00 plus floor fee. This unique
price will appeal to teachers and pupils alike, making the examination
something really special. Normal commission will be applied.
How
to book a session
Normal procedure for booking is necessary, the Golden Jubilee Award
is included on the standard form.
How
to pay
Normal procedure will apply. Awards and certificates will be sent out
in the normal way.
Number
of dances
This Award will take the format of a two-dance test, two dances of any
style, taken at the grade held by the candidate at that time. The level
of each dance may be different within the same examination. The following
are only examples; any combination is acceptable.
Amateur
Gold Star Disco & Silver Rock 'n' Roll
Silver Tango & Silver Rumba
Gold Star 3 Veleta & Bronze Waltz
Social Salsa & Silver Foxtrot
Social Rumba & Pre-Bronze Boston Two Step
Under 8 Ballroom & Pre-Bronze Disco

Student
Teacher & Professional
Student Teacher Bronze Waltz & Associate Latin Cha Cha Cha
Fellowship Tango & Student Teacher Bronze Salsa

Number
of candidates
The examiner may examine two candidates at one time provided they are
dancing to the same music. Examination of one candidate at a time can
also be arranged.
Couples
or duo
These will be examined as separate examinations. Separate awards and
certificates will be allocated and therefore the individual unique price
will apply.
Time Limit
Five minutes for one candidate, six minutes for two candidates as per
current requirements. Teachers will be required to work out timings
carefully as some changes of dress and or shoes may be necessary.
Suggestions
for running an examination & presentation session
The examination could be a special Golden Jubilee Examination Day or
as part of a standard examination session.
