Chichester Modern Theatre and Tap Faculty Summer School 2007

Thank you for another fantastic, yet totally exhausting week at Chichester! Yet again old and new faces came from all over the world to experience the exhilarating and inspirational lessons given by the team and guest lecturers.
We felt honoured to be in the first group of teachers to be taught the new Advanced 2 Modern syllabus which has been superbly created by all involved. Being exciting and diverse, it still incorporates elements from the original work whilst capturing today’s styles, performance skills and energy.
Everyone approached the week with such enthusiasm that even the aches, pains and bruises didn’t slow us down (although walking up the stairs was a little painful!)
All that’s left to do now is to go back home and pass on all that we have learnt with renewed enthusiasm!

A very close friend of mine once told me that I should go to Chichester Summer School. I came once in 2004 and then again in 2005. Now it is 2007 and I’m here again. I hope there will be many more years to follow!
When you first arrive you think “Well it’s a seminar but in a foreign country”. But it is not just a seminar; it’s a way of life. It’s not only learning so many new things and meeting new people, seeing different cultures, different styles and ways of dancing. It’s dealing with dancing reality, how you cope with things and with the daily programme (because believe me, you would like to be cut into ten different pieces so you can be in every studio.)
When you are at Chichester the first thing that the faculty says to you is “Do not kill yourself!” But you just can’t help your enthusiasm! You feel the need to be excellent – to work 100% and to give your very best. It is natural for us teachers to be dancers as well and perform for ourselves and for everyone else. Then we can pass this through to our children.
I am only 25 years old but I’ve learned from Chichester Summer School that you should be like a sponge. Take as much as you can from everyone here! Live your life through dancing at Chichester Summer School!
