Advanced
2 Syllabus Demonstration
Presented
by the Modern Theatre Faculty on 14th October 2007
The
Modern Theatre Faculty presented their new Advanced
2 syllabus at the Harlequin Theatre Redhill on 14th
October 2007. Students from Bird College, Laine Theatre
Arts and Performers College gave a superb presentation
of this creative work showing the versatility required
of dancers today.
This
new syllabus has been structured to include all the
principles of the Modern Theatre work and techniques
in an artistic setting giving students the opportunity
to explore a range of Modern styles from lyrical and
contemporary, through to jazz and musical theatre, to
prepare them for their future careers.
There
is no set music, currently available music will be recommended
in order to have the flexibility to keep up to date
with musical trends and to increase the students' musicality.
The
new examination will be optional from 31st March 2008
as a pilot scheme and compulsory from 1st September
2009 globally.
During
this 18 month pilot scheme (change over period), courses
will be available giving teachers the flexibility to
introduce this syllabus in the most advantageous way,
allowing students to either complete the course they
have already started, or to start on the new work.
Courses
have been structured into four days which do not have
to be in one session, but it will be necessary to attend
all four to cover enough work to enter students for
examination.
The
Modern Theatre Faculty gave the first course at Chichester
Summer School where it was well received and are looking
forward to implementing these new changes in the coming
year.
