Miss
Anne Tyrer
Anne
began dancing at the age of 5 at a vocational dancing
school in Northampton, then Pattison College Coventry,
studying all branches of dance and drama.
She
has studied with various teachers, including Iris Truscott,
Joan Lawson, Sheila Tozer, Madge Van Praagh and Maurice
and Faye Fletcher and now holds Fellowship status in
the Imperial Ballet, National Dance, Modern Theatre,
Tap Dance and Latin American Faculties and is a Licentiate
of the Greek Faculty.
In
1970 Anne won the Phyllis Haylor Scholarship and in
1980 was awarded the Haxell Cup by the National Dance
Faculty.
She
has been Principal of the Anne Gale School of Dance,
Luton for over 35 years, both jointly with her sister
and as solo principal. In this time the school has twice
won (and twice been runner up) the Dancing Times Teachers
Cup at the All England Sunshine Dancing Competition
for the school with the most winning entries at the
Finals.
Pupils
have won at the Janet Cram, Star Tap, Grandison Clark,
Ruby Ginner and Imperial Ballet Awards.
An
examiner for the Imperial Ballet Faculty, Anne is also
an adjudicator for the British Federation of Festivals,
Dance Section.
