Heather
Burns
Grades to Intermediate Examiner for the National Dance Faculty
Heather Burns
is a Fellow and newly appointed examiner of the National Faculty and a
Fellow of the Imperial Classical Ballet Faculty. She is also a committee
member of the National Dance Faculty.
Heather is
Principal of the Lancaster Ballet & Theatre School and has run the Lancaster
branch of the school since 1991, Kirkby Lonsdale since 1992 and Arkholme
since 1999. The school has enjoyed an excellent 100% success in all RAD
and ISTD exams.
Heather trained
at Pat Eakets School, Blackburn and after completing A Levels studied at
Northern Ballet School, Manchester for three years. On graduating Heather
gained a teaching post in Jersey at the Jersey Academy of Dancing where
she stayed for seven years, being responsible for all the ISTD work and
starting the National Dance branch within the school. Heather returned
home to open her own school and be a guest teacher at various colleges
including Northern Ballet School, Leeds Dance College and Preston College.
In 1998 Heather
was appointed Head of Dance of the Professional Dancers and Teachers of
Dance course at Preston College after having been associate lecturer there
since 1992. Heather gained her FETC 7307 whilst working at the college
and is now studying for her Cert Ed.
