New Heads of Department at ISTD HQ

Claire Skelton
Head of International Examinations

Claire joined the ISTD as Head of International Examinations in November 2002. She is a Foreign Languages Degree graduate and has always enjoyed foreign travel, languages and cultures.

As a result, since leaving University, she has enjoyed periods of time, living and working in several countries, including France, Spain and the United States.

Claire studied dance from a very young age and followed four of the ISTD's dance styles. She contemplated entering full-time dance training at the age of 18 but decided to pursue a University course instead and keep dance as a hobby.

Claire has also worked at the RAD in their International Examinations department. After a year and a half at the RAD, Claire is pleased to head the ISTD's International Examinations Department. She is looking forward to the challenges of promoting our diverse dance styles worldwide.

Matthew Wilkinson
Head of Education & Training

Matthew Wilkinson joined the ISTD on 9th December. His main role will be to establish the new Education & Training department and in particular to supervise the implementation of the new teaching qualifications, due for launch in September 2003.

Matthew's previous role was with the newly created London Metropolitan University. Matthew worked within the Human Resources Directorate as a Training and Development Project Manager, implementing training and development best practice across the University. Prior to that, Matthew was a Senior Business Manager with the London Central Learning & Skills Council. He provided advice to organisations on how to get the best return for the investment in training and development. Matthew is also a nationally accredited Investors in People Adviser.

In his spare time, Matthew interests include long distance running (he completed his first marathon in October 2002!), cricket and travelling.
