New Graded Examinations have been introduced by the Dance Sport Faculties, in addition to the existing medal tests. These new Grades will be available from January 2004 from Grade 1 through to Grade 6 in the following dance genres:

• Modern Ballroom
• Latin American
• Sequence
• Disco/Freestyle
• Rock 'n' Roll
• Country/Western
• Alternative Rhythms

The ISTD is pleased to announce that, following considerable work by the committees, these new examinations have now received QCA accreditation. The ISTD is the first dance awarding body to be given QCA accreditation for examinations in Dance Sport.

This means that Dance Sport examinations will appear on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) in the same bands as Theatre Faculty Grades, showing equivalences with GCSEs and 'A' levels. Further information can be obtained about the NQF from Mrs Cathy Browne at ISTD HQ.

We hope that teachers will take up this exciting opportunity with their pupils so that they can gain government recognition for their achievements in Dance Sport.
