| I
first met Bobbie (and Bill of course) in South
Africa when Frank and I were on a teaching, adjudicating
and lecturing tour. During several lesson sessions
we got to know them well and suggested they come
to England and Europe to compete. This they did
and the results of that are well known.
Bobbie’s
choice of competition dresses, designs and colours
were the envy of all competitions, not only did
she want to be the best dancer, but the best dressed
and she achieved this.
I
have worked with Bobbie and Bill on a number of
television programmes and other presentations,
and Bobbie always was totally dedicated to getting
everything perfect. Her lectures on the ‘woman’s
role’ in dance leave a long lasting memory
of how she had studied her role in dance to assist
Bill win the many championships they won together.
Her many pupils owe her a great deal.
Her
elegance as an adjudicator set a great example
to lady adjudicators and her corner
of the stage at Blackpool will never be the same
without her.
Bobbie,
you leave us with many legacies in many different
ways - we will miss you, but all those colleagues
in that Ballroom in the sky will welcome you.
