Get
into the groove for Childline
Calling
all aspiring Freds and Gingers! Pull on your dancing
shoes, get those feet tapping and start shimmying
for ChildLine! Dancers from across the UK are
being asked to get into the groove and ‘pound’
the boards to raise vital funds for ChildLine
- the UK’s free, 24-hour helpline for children
and young people.
|
| As
part of its 18th birthday celebrations, ChildLine
is launching 'In Step with ChildLine' - a challenge
to dancers around the country to raise a total
of £16,000 for ChildLine. There are many
different ways to help – from a sponsored
fun dance to staging a dance coffee morning or
themed quiz - with every penny raised helping
ChildLine to help even more children.
And
those pennies will certainly make a difference.
Every day around 4,000 children call ChildLine,
but lack of funds means that only 1,800 of them
get through to our counsellors for the comfort,
advice and protection they so desperately need.
Just £3 will pay to answer another call
from a child who may be desperate for help; who
is injured, alone or afraid; a child whose life
may be in danger. Every £32 raised will
help provide in-depth counselling to help change
a child's life.

Merseyside’s
own Ginger Rogers, former Brookside and Chicago
actress, Claire Sweeney is supporting the
initiative and encouraging other people, young
and old, to follow suit. She says: 'I'm thrilled
that dancers all over the country will be
fundraising for ChildLine. 'In Step with ChildLine'
aims to raise £16,000 - enough to counsel
an additional 500 children. Every single step
will make a big difference to the children
who need help. So, please lend us your dancing
feet and help ChildLine help many more children
in danger or distress.' |

About
ChildLine
ChildLine is the UK's free, 24-hour helpline for
children in danger or distress. Trained volunteer
counsellors comfort, advise and protect children
and young people. The number for children to call
is 0800 1111. Lack of funds means that lines can
