Child
Protection
The
ISTD continues to work closely with the CDET and government
departments to raise the profile and status of dance
teachers. As part of this move for recognition, we encourage
teachers to practice a professional approach in the
conduct of their school, including having a child protection
policy.
We
urge all teachers to have a Criminal Records Bureau
(CRB) check to demonstrate that they are cleared to
work with children, especially in view of proposed UK
Government legislation. If you want any further guidance
or help, contact the Customer Service and Quality Assurance
department at ISTD HQ. Tel: 020 7377 1577.
Criminal
Records Bureau
It is vitally important to be able to publicly demonstrate
that you are officially cleared to work with children,
and legally teachers must ensure that any staff are
aware of child protection issues.
The
ISTD in association with Due Diligence Checking (DDC)
offer you a straightforward CRB checking service, providing
you with a displayable certificate at the end of the
process.
Participation in the scheme is voluntary, but schools
who teach under 18’s are strongly advised to participate.
The
cost for ISTD members in the UK is £53.63. ISTD
Schools can also check non-ISTD members at this price.
Anyone
wishing to participate in this scheme should provide
their name, address and telephone number to the DDC.
