Australia,
Hong Kong & New Zealand
I
would like to take this opportunity to thank all those
ISTD members whom I met earlier this year at the receptions
held in Hong Kong and Australia. In a very short space
of time I had the opportunity to meet members in Hong
Kong, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.
I was truly delighted that so many of you managed
to find the time to attend the receptions. It was
a pleasure to meet you all and I would also like to
thank you on behalf of Claire Buckley, Head of International
Examinations (who was also able to visit members in
Palmerston North and Auckland in New Zealand) for
making us feel so welcome.
During the Australian leg of the trip we were also
very fortunate to be joined by Paddy Hurlings, Chairman
of the Theatre Faculties Board. Paddy was able to
find time in her very busy examining schedule not
only to attend the receptions but also to pay a visit
to ex-organisers for the region, Ken Norman and his
wife Jacqui Johnson. This enabled her to pass on their
good wishes to those teachers at the reception. We
all wish them well for the future.

Central to my role is to have an understanding of
the views of all of our members and face to face interaction
is invaluable. The feedback provided on the trip has
been very helpful for us in understanding the issues
our members face in these areas of the world.
The ISTD faces a number of challenges throughout the
world and there is a clear enthusiasm amongst the
members I met to work together with us in dealing
with them. You can be assured many of the developments
you will hear about over the next 12 months will be
particularly of interest to members living outside
of the UK so please keep an eye on DANCE magazine
and the website.
