Eve Pettinger Awarded MBE

We are proud to announce that Miss Eve Pettinger, Fellow and Senior Examiner for the Cecchetti Society Classical Ballet Faculty and Licentiate of the Classical Greek and Imperial Classical Ballet Faculties, has been awarded an MBE in the New Year’s Honours for her services to Dance.

Miss Pettinger, who has taught Ballet for 56 years, was a founder member of the Markova-Dolin Ballet Company (now English National Ballet). She trained at The ArtsEducational School in London and Tring and joined the dance faculty in 1950, soon becoming a senior member, a position that is retained to the present day

She has worked with the Bolshoi and Kirov Companies in London, and with English National Ballet in the training of children for their productions of Nutcracker for 44 years; also Sleeping Beauty, La Sylphide and Romeo and Juliet. She trained the children in John Gilpin’s production of Nutcracker in Gothenberg, Sweden in 1982 and has traveled extensively overseas with children to perform with London Festival Ballet.

She is a prolific choreographer, including the Markova Award since its inception in 1963, and has taught and lectured internationally as a guest teacher, including for Houston Ballet Academy for 26 years, other states in the USA and also Dublin and Malta.

Miss Pettinger has given her life to the training and education of thousands of children in Classical dance. Her dedication to students has been outstanding and we are delighted that she has been given this well deserved recognition.
