Dance Teachers' Careers Day
Friday 12th March 2010, 11.00am - 5.00pm
Venue: MOVE IT, Olympia, London

Free of charge to all those who will have purchased an entrance ticket to MOVE IT. Spaces are limited so please book your place now!

development days or programmes that would suit you?

The approved dance awarding bodies (BBO, BTDA, ISTD and RAD) along with the Council for Dance Education and Training (CDET) have teamed up with MOVE IT, to present a unique Dance Teachers Career Day on Friday 12th March 2010, at London's OIympia.

This Careers Day is for Dance Teachers working in both the private and maintained sectors designed to enhance your dance teaching career. Experienced teachers can find out about the latest career developments, qualifications and opportunities. Student Teachers or Students looking to find information relating to a career in Dance Teaching are also welcome to attend.

The event will start out with a keynote speaker outlining the changes to the sector, whether you already work in, or aspire to work in a vocational college, state school or private dance school. Further presentations will follow, as will opportunities to for individual mentoring sessions with experts in their field from all four societies to discuss development opportunities available to you.

Wherever you are in your career, whether an experienced teacher of many years, a newly qualified teacher, a current student teacher or even if you are just thinking if dance teaching is right for you, this is an event not to be missed. The day will include presentations, networking opportunities and the chance to gain careers advice and learn about opportunities to develop your CV and job prospects within teaching.

Attending the Career Day
The Career Day is free of charge! However, you will need to purchase a ticket for entrance to MOVE IT. Details of how to purchase a ticket can be found here www.moveitdance.co.uk.

Booking a Mentoring Session
The mentoring sessions will run from 1.00pm until 5.00pm and will last 20 minutes each. During this time you will have the opportunity to talk about your career progression with a member of the ISTD mentoring team.

To book for a one-to-one mentoring session please email Louise Murphy at trainingofficer@istd.org with the details below:

  • Full name
  • Contact telephone number
  • ISTD Membership number (if applicable)
  • Time period which you are available (for example; 1.00pm until 2:30pm or 4.00pm to 5.00pm)
  • Preferential time for session

Please note that we will make every attempt to accommodate all preferential times. However, the timeslots will be assigned on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.

As well as the Dance Teachers Career Day, there is also an opportunity to attend classes and see performances on the main stage, but don’t forget to come and visit us on the ISTD Stand (number 304).
