Bournemouth Christmas Sequence Competition 2013

27 February 2014

Michael West reports on a successful seasonal Sequence event from the South Coast

Bournemouth was pleased to start the festive season for South Coast Sequence dancers when Terry Hunt and Barbara Harvey hosted a Christmas competition at the Hotel Piccadilly on behalf of the Sequence Facility.

Together with Bournemouth schools Adeline, MLC Dance and Nice & Easy, dancers from Hove, London and Julie Cosh schools had a fiercely fought contest using a selection of very enjoyable Classical, Ballroom and Latin sequence dances.

All ages and experience levels were represented and the competitors’ efforts were expertly (and empathetically) adjudicated by Joanne Blackshaw.

A sparkling selection and variety of music was once again provided by our fabulous Nigel Bradshaw.

Being Christmas and with the emphasis on fun, the serious business of dance battle was relieved by engaging the entire assembly in plenty of festive social dancing, orchestrated and led with gusto (and the patience of a saint) by our hostess Barbara.

And finally, a most enjoyable adult/child competition was enthusiastically received by all dancers and the assembled families and supporters.

It rounded off a perfect and happy South Coast seasonal Sequence Faculty event.
