Bringing a passion for Tap to Got to Dance

From dance festival rivals to TV dancing duo, how
Hannah Goodhall and Natalie Coolledge became Hash Tap

Hannah Goodhall and Nathalie Coolledge, two ISTD teachers from Hull, are better known to viewers of Sky TV’s Got to Dance as Hash Tap after making it through to the semi-finals of the show. We learnt a bit more about the duo and how their passion for Tap and their ISTD training has helped them get so far.

Surprisingly, Hannah and Natalie were rivals at dance festivals from the age of five. They were always competing against each other in sections as they are the same age (Hannah was born the day after Natalie). Eventually, they both moved dance schools and ended up in the same dance class at the same school.

After studying the ISTD syllabus at dance class the duo decided that teaching was their passion and should be the next step in their careers. After passing their Advanced 2 ISTD Tap exams with flying colours, the pair studied the FDI teaching qualification. They are both now FDI qualified and Hannah is currently a couple of units away from passing her DDE teaching qualification. They are both enthusiastic dancers and have always loved Tap; Hannah is a talented all-rounder whereas Natalie is a Tap fanatic plain and simple. The girls both feel that their ISTD training has provided them with tonnes of Tap knowledge and improved their technique, which they are now enjoying passing on to a younger generation.

In summer 2012, after they had left dance college, Hannah suggested that they both audition for Series 4 of Got to Dance. Natalie was unsure of this as she hadn’t done any training in a couple of years and didn’t think they were good enough. Hannah secretly applied for an audition for Got to Dance and, after much persuading, she finally managed to get Natalie to finally agree!

Hannah says, “I knew the two of us together would be brilliant and being on the show has been a great experience, the other contestants are so talented.”

Even though they were once each other’s competition, they soon found a long-lasting friendship which has bound them together as Hash Tap today.
