Tap Grade 4, 5 and 6

Grade 4: Old Grade 4 Syllabus will no longer be examined. New Grade 4 is now compulsory.
Grade 6: No free amalgamations will be required from the candidates.
Advanced 1: Examiners will ask for ONLY 2 out of a possible 3 pieces of free work. They will be any 2 of the following: Rhythm, Time Steps or Amalgamations to include vocabulary up to and including Advanced 1. The selection of the 2 pieces of free work will be the examiners choice.
Starting 1st May 2014
Grade 6 Rhythm Section: This will be changed to come into line with the new grades. The examiner will give a 2-bar phrase of free rhythm using note values up to and including 1/12th notes, including missed beats and syncopation. The candidates will be given a short time to develop the footwork to respond to the rhythm. Set music will be used.
Intermediate Rhythm Section: Rhythmic Response stays the same. The examiner will give a 2-bar phrase of free rhythm using note values up to and including 1/12th notes, including syncopation and missed beats. The candidates will be expected to respond to the rhythm immediately and improvise their footwork.
New Grade 5 becomes an optional examination.
We suggest that for Grade 4 and 5 (new) Tap examinations, teachers use the tracks from the recommended playlists.
