The Janet Cram Finals 2011

The Finals were held for the second time at the Shaw Theatre on Sunday 19th June
Heats had been held in Swindon, Staines, and for the first time, at Queen Margaret’s School in York, which proved to be a stunning venue. The school is situated within extensive grounds with its own theatre tucked away to the rear. We were made to feel most welcome by the staff. Many thanks to Alison and Eleanor who came to help on their ‘day off.’
The Finals again produced some quite lovely work. The competitors were beautifully groomed and each gave of their very best. The Shaw Theatre is a superb venue for this event, giving the Finalists a real ‘sense of occasion.’
We were thrilled that both of Alison Willett’s sons, Ben and Marcus were able to join us for the Premier section and present the Alison Willett Award in their mother’s memory.
June 2012 will see the Finals of the Janet Cram Awards combined with Creation, the Faculty’s choreographic competition in memory of Miss Doreen Bird. We look forward to bringing both competitions together for the first time, so do encourage your students to get their creative ideas flowing! Information will follow in future issues of DANCE.
