Paddy Hurlings to step down as Artistic Director of the ISTD

16 April 2014

Statement by Professor Christopher Bannerman, ISTD Chairman

Due to personal circumstances, Paddy Hurlings has decided to step down as the Artistic Director of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) on 29th August 2014. However, she will continue in her role as Chairman of the ISTD Theatre Faculties’ Board.

Paddy, the ISTD's first Artistic Director, has achieved truly remarkable results, transforming and galvanising the ISTD internally and developing its profile externally. Her contribution, characterised by her commitment, clear vision and humour, has reaffirmed and strengthened the foundations of the ISTD and all of us have enjoyed working with her enormously.

I am delighted that our relationship will continue as she will remain as Chairman of the Theatre Faculties’ Board, and that we will continue to receive the benefit of her experience and wisdom.

The ISTD Council will initiate the process of identifying and appointing a new Artistic Director in due course, but for the present Paddy Hurlings will continue as Artistic Director with the full confidence of Council.

Professor Christopher Bannerman, ISTD Chairman
