Grand
Finals Sequence Event, Blackpool 2006
The
three-dance Sequence event was as hotly contested as
any of the solo Ballroom and Latin American events at
the Grand Finals in November 2006.
There
were a large number of entries (27 dancers in the Juvenile
category, 19 Juniors, 22 Under-35 Adults, 7 Over-35
and 20 over-50 dancers).
After
a long day of competition on Saturday the youngsters
had bounced back on Sunday to take part in the three-dance
Sequence and with their hardworking teachers did their
best to impress the judges. My attention was drawn to
well marked and lively pas de basques from the Juveniles
and from the Juniors a gracefully danced Fylde Waltz
followed by a Paso Espana full of gusto.
We
were fortunate to have a panel of seven eminent judges
headed by Miss Jill Bush (Chairman of the Sequence Committee),
Dr Andrea Kilgour, Mr Jack Briggs, Mr Alan Grassby,
Mrs Jacqui Norton, Mr Russell Heppenstall and Mr Mark
Paton. This is an event not to be overlooked!
