Sujata
Banerjee is one of the most versatile South Asian artists
in the UK.She
is the Artistic Director of the Sujata Banerjee Dance
Company, which conducts summer schools and workshops
extending to special needs groups, even in such unlikely
venues as high security prisons.
They believe that arts should be an important part of
every person's life and everyone should have the chance
to participate. The company tour regularly within the
UK, Europe, US and India. In addition to solo performances
they also present innovative choreography and exciting
projects. Their new programme, Chando Encanto, is an
indepth exploration of the fusion between Kathak and
Flamenco, a new interpretation of the movement while
retaining the essence of the intricate rhythm. She is
one of the most acclaimed speakers of the Commonwealth
Institute for over 15 years and her charismatic personality
has won her much praise from participants all over the
country.
Sujata
has a particular interest in training dancers in a healthier
way so that they can take full benefit of their training
and pursue an injury free career. She is a qualified
aerobic tutor and a fitness professional and is taking
a MSc in Sports Science at Brunel University, London.
Sujata
is also an examiner of the South Asian Dance Faculty.
