Tap Syllabus Clarification

1. Examiner will set 3 bars of rhythm with the 4th bar being a tacit. Only whole bars of notes will be used.

2. The note values are 1/4, 1/2 accented and even 1/8th notes and 1/2th notes which will start on the
‘and’. One missed beat may be used and the examiner may repeat this bar.

3. Candidates will clap the rhythm all together then one at a time to the examiners choice of set music.

4. Candidates will then be given time to arrange the footwork to match the rhythm, replacing the tacit with
free, improvised footwork.

5. The candidates will practise all together with the music and will then be asked to dance their arrangement one at a time.

Grade 6 - Time steps

They can be seen straight to the front or turned from diagonal to diagonal and the dancer can tacit. No pick up time steps are required.

Advanced 1 - Time Steps
