in response to the Special Needs and Disability Act
2001 and East London Dance’s interest in providing
training for artists to develop their skills in inclusive
provision in dance, People Moving aims to introduce
dance teachers and practitioners with experience of
workshop leading/ teaching to the basic considerations
involved in working in inclusive settings.
East
London Dance have worked with the ISTD to enable us
to provide our Members with a tailored 3-hour version
of the programme focused on the needs of ISTD Registered
teachers. The lecture demonstration, presented by the
course author and trainer Jo Parkes, with Kelly Davidson,
will include:

Lecture demonstration to an inclusive group of students
and learning support assistants from Newham Sixth Form
College. Jo, Kelly, the students and the learning support
assistants will discuss the working practice as exemplified
in the demonstration.
Topics
covered will include:
• Starting with the individual: key considerations
in integrated work;
deconstructing dance techniques - what is a core principle?
•
integrated warm-ups; class structure; differentiation;
extension tasks; health and safety and assessment
• Group discussion
• Voluntary practical session
• Question and answer sessions
All
course participants will receive a written resource
pack to accompany the programme.
