Accredited Prior Learning (APL) for Non ISTD Members
It is now possible for non-ISTD members to have their
prior learning and experience accredited towards their
FDI and CDE qualifications.
This
process, which is free to ISTD members, is charged
at £100 per application to non-ISTD members
to cover the administrative time to ascertain the
correct level and grading for non-ISTD qualifications.

There
are now 134 Approved Dance Centres, 105 in the UK,
29 throughout Europe and, as we go to press, several
more are going through the application process.
If your school would like to offer the Foundation
in Dance Instruction (FDI) and Certificate in Dance
Education (CDE), please look at our section on how
to become an Approved Dance Centre.

Registration
All candidates who wish to complete the FDI
and/or CDE must register at an Approved Dance Centre
by filling in a Candidate Registration Form (white
for FDI and yellow for CDE).
New Candidates
If you are completing the whole qualification, you
need to register through an Approved Dance Centre
(ADC) after ensuring you hold the relevant entry requirements.

APL Candidates
If you only need to complete Module 2 and/or the Background
to a Chosen Dance Genre essay, you may choose to use
ISTD HQ as your Approved Dance Centre. However, if
you need to complete any of Module 1 or the Dance
Practice units, you must register through a local
Approved Dance Centre as HQ is unable to offer these
practical units.
