UCAS
Many of our students and teachers undertake further
studies through UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admission
Service). The ISTD fully supports its members wanting
to further their education, whether this be within the
field of dance or in a broader sense.
At present, people who hold graded or vocationally graded
ISTD qualifications can put them on their UCAS form
(please see article in DANCE Winter 2007). However,
these qualifications are not currently included in the
UCAS tariff and therefore, although institutions may
take them into account when offering places, points
cannot be allotted to them.
The ISTD has been in talks with the other Awarding Bodies
and the Council for Dance Education and Training (CDET)
to bring the graded and vocationally graded qualification
into the tariff in the future. However, due to an internal
review of the UCAS tariff system, no new qualifications
are being brought into the tariff at present.
Once this internal review is complete, the ISTD will
continue to work towards the recognition of our graded
and vocationally graded qualifications within the tariff
and will publicise any future developments through DANCE
magazine. |
