Dancers/Dance
Teachers Needed for Research
You
can contribute to the future of dance by becoming involved
in research within the dance science arena.
Please
find below a research project that requires your help:
A group of trainee podiatrists (foot specialists) with a special interest in preventing foot and leg injury and proactively improving dancers' foot health are looking at the effect of ballet shoes on dancers feet when they jump.
Participants will be required to do 6 soubresauts, three with shoes and three barefoot on a stable pressure mat. This will take no longer than 15 minutes.
We will be gathering data from Friday 16th January to Saturday 13th February 2010.
If you are a teacher or teach a regular class, please consider being involved. We will bring our equipment to your school or studio to minimise inconvenience to your students.
If you are an independent dancer and know friends/others who would be interested, we can come to wherever you all do class and gather data there (e.g. after class).
Participants must be:
• Over 16 years old
• Male or female
• Currently in vocational training or dancing professionally
• Have at least 2 years (men) or 5 years (women) ballet training
• Injury-free in the 2 weeks prior to data collection
• In possession of a pair of soft canvas ballet flats (any maker)
