The ISTD
will be carrying out a process to ensure that the relevant exemptions
are given to existing teachers towards the new teaching qualifications.
This is the first time that the ISTD will recognise 'other' qualifications
and is very important as we will seek to ensure that no teacher repeats
elements already covered by qualifications and/or prior experience.
This will eliminate teachers investing more time and money into training
already completed elsewhere.
You can
download an APL application form here>>
Downloadable
Forms: To do this you will require the software Adobe Acrobat Reader.
This is entirely free and can be downloaded simply and quickly by clicking
on the icon below and following the instructions. Once you have installed
it, or if you already have Acrobat Reader, simply click on the link to start downloading.

If you
are unable to download the form, email the Education
& Training Deparment to have one sent to you in the post.
We would
ask each member who wishes to continue entering students for exams,
to complete this form and send it back to the Education
and Training Department. It also includes a section on how to fill
the form in. It is also important to complete the form if you are at
Licentiate level and above, just to ensure that all teachers are covered.
Once the
department has received the form, the past qualifications gained will
be assessed against the requirements for the new teaching qualifications.
The form will then be passed to the relevant Faculty Board APL committee.
These committees will assess a teacher's 'experience' and examination
results. Once this has been completed, the ISTD will then confirm to
the teacher, what, if any, further units are required. If further units
are required, teachers will still be able to enter students for exams,
whilst they are being completed. It is hoped that this confirmation
will take place within a 28 day period.
The application
form contains a section requesting qualifications gained with the ISTD,
another section for qualifications gained with other awarding bodies
(not necessarily dance awarding bodies), teaching experience and the
most recent exam results.
We look
forward to receiving your forms.
