In-house Senior Graphic Designer

Job Title: In-house Senior Graphic Designer

Responsible to: Head of Department: Marketing & Communications

Main Purpose of Job: Responsible for the design of ISTD print and online communications and, with the Design & Publications Manager, maintain the integrity of and consistency of the ISTD brand

Location: ISTD, Imperial House, 22-26 Paul Street, London, EC2A 4QE


  1. Following the initial editorial process, is responsible for laying out each section in DANCE magazine and creating proofs for sign-off by faculties or external contributors
  2. Responsible for booking and designing advertisements for external events and publications, ISTD and faculty events, sending final artwork to the printers and liaising on any revisions required
  3. Responsible for sourcing quotes and scheduling all print and design jobs and maintaining the overall print production work schedule
  4. Contribute to the ISTD online platforms and website, in particular in relation to ensuring DANCE content is updated and that all visual online assets meet the agreed quality standards
  5. Advise members on use of the ISTD logo and brand, ensuring they are consistent with the organisation’s brand, image and objectives
  6. Carry out any necessary administrative processes to support the work of the department, including maintaining DANCE back up disks and electronic files
  7. As a member of the Marketing & Communications department, participate in any other projects or tasks as required to support the objectives of the organisation 



  • Demonstrable experience of designing and producing high quality and eye-catching brochures, advertisements, leaflets, flyers etc ensuring the maintenance & development of brand and image, while meeting tight deadlines
  • Experience of managing the production of materials from design through to final print, ensuring best value for the organisation and that all timescales are met in accordance with the customer’s needs
  • Good working knowledge of InDesign, Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office, email and internet on all browsers, working though both Macs and PCs
  • Excellent written communications skills in English, including a wide vocabulary and a thorough understanding of the use and application of correct grammar and spelling, consistent with the production and editing of printed and online materials. Good verbal communication, with an ability to explain requirements clearly and understandably to a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrable experience of working in an arts or charity, marketing or publishing organisation in design, and print management roles
  • Excellent attention to detail, with experience of working to ensure the highest maintenance of brand and accuracy of message
  • Strong solution focussed project management skills and experience, with the ability to work under pressure to deliver quality outcomes to time
  • Attitude of personal responsibility and accountability and a flexible ‘can-do’ attitude towards the workplace
  • Proven ability to work both on own initiative and as part of a team 


  • Ideally, previous experience of working in marketing within a dance, dance education, arts or training environment, or similar organisation with multiple stakeholders
