Japan - Cecchetti Summer School

The ISTD is delighted to host the Cecchetti Classical Ballet Society International Summer School in Tokyo, Japan from Friday 23rd – Tuesday 27th August 2019.

Designed for Children, Students and Teachers these week-long courses are a chance to learn or refine the Cecchetti technique as well as enhance teaching and performance skills. Ballet specialists will lead classes including Gillian Hurst, Anita Young MBE and Ryoko Sugimoto. Meet the teaching team.

Children’s Course (09:15 – 12:15)
This course is open to boys and girls aged 8 - 11 years currently studying any classical ballet method and aims to enhance their technical and performance skills in an enjoyable and friendly atmosphere.
Children will take daily classes in Ballet, Body Conditioning, Limbering and Repertoire plus will take part in a short demonstration for parents and teachers at the end of the course.

Students Course (12:30 – 16:45)
This course is open to male and female students aged 12 - 18 years currently studying in any classical ballet method at Intermediate level and above.
An intensive and stimulating course, it is suitable for students studying dance who wish to improve their technique and performance skills. Students will take classes in Classical Ballet, Body Conditioning, Pointe Work and Repertoire. The course culminates in a short demonstration of work for parents and teachers.

Teachers Course (09:15 - 16:45)
This course offers teachers, and students from the age of 18 years interested in teaching, an excellent professional development opportunity. It will provide teachers with the opportunity to refresh and enhance their teaching skills.
The programme offers essential learning for those studying for ISTD Cecchetti teaching qualifications (Associate) or for Vocational dance qualifications (Intermediate - Diploma), as well as fresh approaches to teaching children and students for all teachers.

Courses will be held at Shinjuku-mura Studios, Tokyo, Japan
