Disability Dance Resources
In 2018, the ISTD undertook a research project with University of Bedfordshire, investigating accessibility to ISTD syllabi for disabled learners.
Three disabled dance specialists were paired with an ISTD teacher and their students, and together, they looked at specific syllabus exercises and how these could be adapted for their learners. Researcher Dr Imogen Aujla visited the groups throughout the process, capturing video footage and interviews with teachers, students and specialists to track and monitor progress. The project culminated in a seminar event, held at University of Bedfordshire in February 2019, where each of the groups shared their experience and presented her findings.
