Cecchetti Classical Ballet Scholarship Scheme
Patron: Mary-Jane Duckworth FISTD
The Cecchetti Classical Ballet Scholarship Scheme offers talented young dancers outstanding training and performance opportunities. Based in London at the Arts Educational Schools, Chiswick, the scheme offers a thirty-week training programme. At the end of the year, the students have the opportunity to perform at a prestigious venue and in recent years have performed at The Royal Ballet School, Covent Garden.
Auditions are held annually and classes are held on Saturday afternoons over three terms in the academic year. The Cecchetti Society Trust very generously supports the scheme and so there are no charges for these classes. The programme includes:
- Classical Ballet
- Body Conditioning
- Pointe Work
- Performance Skills
Acceptance to this scheme is by audition only. To be considered students must be between 11 and 17 years of age on 1 September of the academic year of entry. They must be receiving their training in Cecchetti Classical Ballet and have attained a minimum of their Grade 4 or Standard 5 Cecchetti Ballet qualification. Each student accepted will be awarded a scholarship for one year. The value of the scholarship is £1,000 per annum. The scholarship classes are designed to complement the student’s regular classes which should be continued as before, and their teacher’s permission be given for them to attend.

Cecchetti Summer School For Young Dancers
The Cecchetti Summer School for Young Dancers takes place annually at Tring Park School for the Performing Arts and is an intensive week of dance for boys and girls who are studying any method of classical ballet. The participants aged 10 - 17 years are grouped according to age and ability. The summer school is fully residential, although a limited number of ‘Day Pupil’ places are available.
The course is a wonderful opportunity for young students to take part in daily classes in Ballet with introductory lessons in, for example, Jazz, Contemporary, Classical Greek, Spanish, National, Musical Theatre and Repertoire, all within the splendid venue of Tring Park School. Choreographic workshops result in a competition at the end of the week. A highlight of the week is a special evening, with a chance for the students (and the Faculty) to have lots of fun with fancy dress outfits to reflect the theme of the party.
