Become an Approved Tutor

ISTD Approved Tutors are suitably qualified and experienced dance teachers, who deliver the ISTD's regulated initial teacher training, the DDE, in conjunction with one or several ADCs at their approved venues.

To start teaching the DDE as an Approved Tutor, the following requirements must be met:

  • You must hold the ISTD Licentiate or Level 6 Diploma in Dance Pedagogy in the genre(s) you wish to tutor; or an equivalent qualification. If you do not have any of the listed qualifications, but feel your qualifications and experience are suitable, simply contact us to discuss the specifics of your situation.
  • You must be able to demonstrate adequate evidence of professional competence in teaching teachers or be prepared to work under the supervision of an experienced Approved Tutor for a specified timescale.

  • You must be working with at least one ADC. Find an ADC on the ISTD's DANCE-TEACHERS.ORG website...
  • You will be required to attend the relevant Tutor Training course before you can begin tutoring any learners (following confirmation of your approved status).
