You will hear members and educators share the inspirational ideas behind how they developed their business models to reach out to schools and community groups, enabling more children to have access to dance.

You’ll also learn about our new policies around applications of reasonable adjustment (ARA) and inclusive content, giving you the information to help your students enter examinations.

CPD courses

Less children now have access to dance in their schools and this means that many are missing out if they are unable to attend a private dance school. As dance educators reaching out to schools and engaging with community projects can ensure that children are benefiting from dance. New projects and ways of delivering can be daunting and knowing where and how to start can be challenging. These courses will guide you through the basic process to get you started on this journey and are suitable for any teacher who wants to develop their practice and creative ideas within schools and the community.

Delegates may also be interested in attending the follow on course Exploring creative dance for schools and communities taking place on Sunday 4 September.

Preparing to teach beyond the studio

An introduction and discussion to explore practical ways to adapt dance teaching practice to broaden engagement and for children to access dance in different settings. The first part of the course will focus on how you approach this method of teaching, what you might need to consider and how you will carry this out. Part 2 will home in on differing age groups primary and secondary and consider approaches to these different groups.

Behaviour Management

There are many contributing factors that can impact children’s behaviour within the dance studio, in a formal setting and most recently with zoom. The key to this is unpicking why and how behaviour presents itself and knowing what strategies to use when this happens. Children react to the environment around them, and their stages of development mean that change is constant. Equipping yourself with some strategies and knowing when to adapt and change is key. This course will explore how to motivate children of different abilities and needs to engage successfully with dance.

Teaching strategies for delivering dance

This course aims to explore some basic teaching strategies that will enable you to feel equipped to adapt to your class and to be able to differentiate from the differing needs and abilities within your class. The development of teaching within zoom presents further challenges to delivering dance effectively and challenging your learners. This course aims to share good practice and explore some strategies for delivering dance.
